Attendance

Regular school attendance is vital for every child's academic progress and personal development. Every minute away from the classroom, whether due to absence or lateness, means missed learning opportunities and valuable interactions with teachers and peers. That’s why at Brompton Primary School, we take school attendance very seriously, and ask that all families who join our community support us in ensuring that their child attends school on time every day.

Consistent lateness and frequent absences can significantly impact a student’s learning. For example, arriving 15 minutes late each day adds up to nearly 50 hours of lost class time over a school year—equivalent to more than 10 full school days missed.

Similarly, being absent just one day per week results in missing approximately 40 days in a school year. Over the course of a student’s primary schooling, this equates to missing an entire year of school. These disruptions can lead to gaps in understanding, reduced academic achievement, and difficulties keeping up with classmates. Regular attendance and punctuality are crucial to ensure every child can access their full learning potential and maintain a strong foundation for their future.
