Teaching and Learning at Brompton Primary School

At Brompton Primary School, our teaching and learning programs are carefully designed to reflect the Australian Curriculum V9 and the new South Australian Curriculum, ensuring that every student is provided with high-quality educational experiences. Our approach is guided by the school values of respect, relationships, responsibility, and rigour. We foster an inclusive and positive learning environment where respectful interactions support strong relationships, responsibility is encouraged in all students, and high expectations drive the pursuit of rigour in all aspects of learning and teaching.

Through ongoing assessment and collaboration, our educators design rich learning experiences that enable every student to access the curriculum at their point of need. This approach ensures equitable outcomes, fosters a sense of belonging, and empowers each learner to take ownership of their growth. At Brompton Primary, enabling and extending students is central to our practice, so that all children are inspired to succeed and realise their full potential.

The introduction of the new South Australian dispositions is an integral element of our curriculum delivery. These dispositions nurture the attitudes, behaviours, and mindsets that enable learners to be resilient, adaptable and motivated. Through explicit teaching and modelling, students at Brompton Primary develop dispositions such as curiosity, confidence, open-mindedness and empathy, empowering them to engage deeply with learning, embrace challenges, and contribute positively to our community.

Alongside dispositions, the new South Australian Capabilities are embedded across learning areas to ensure students are well-prepared for life beyond school. Capabilities including critical, creative and metacognitive thinking, reasoning, fluency and flexibility, underpin all subject areas and learning opportunities. By cultivating these capabilities, we equip our students to actively participate in society, communicate and collaborate effectively, and become responsible, capable citizens who are future-ready.

Visual Arts

We do not currently offer LOTE (Language other than English) at Brompton Primary School. However, our students can access a variety of languages through the School of Languages which is nearby on Torrens Road.
